Small and well-established private practice in beautiful and historic Lexington, NC is seeking Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary care/internal medicine to adult patient panel.  

Our practice is patient-centered and not production driven.  Supervising physician is in-house and will provide mentoring as needed. Compensation package to include:  Competitive salary, generous PTO, compensation for licensing, CME’s, Medical Malpractice coverage, 401K contribution. Will consider new graduates. Major Duties: Nurse Practitioner – Full-time Nurse Practitioner/Physician’s Assistant position in private practice located in Lexington, NC.  Patient panel consists of adults

Job Summary: Responsible for providing primary care services, including assessing and managing patients in the clinic, following established standards and practices.  Care will include coverage for both chronic and acute visits

Education & Experience: Master’s degree in nursing or completion of accredited Physician’s Assistant Program.  Will consider new graduates.

Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration: Current North Carolina licensure as a registered nurse. Current North  Carolina licensure as a nurse practitioner/Physician’s Assistant.  Current certification by a nationally recognized certification body applicable to the relevant practice specialty.  Must be able to obtain DEA license.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs a complete physical exam, obtains complete medical history, and records findings, Orders appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.

  • Interprets and integrates data to determine preliminary diagnosis and therapeutic plan.

  • Administers medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines.

  • Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments.  Educates patients regarding health and illness prevention.  Recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs

  • Collaborates with physician in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.  Provides monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits.  Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.

  • Interprets tests and examination results.  Triages patient telephone calls and provides consultation.

  • Evaluates and admits patients to the hospital under physician’s direction/supervision.

  • Manages medical emergencies.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality.

  • Interacts effectively with co-workers.

  • Communicates effectively and courteously on the telephone and in person with patients and colleagues.

  • Provides a friendly, safe, timely, quality-driven environment responsive to patient’s needs.

  • Enhances professional growth and development through in-service meetings, educational programs and conferences, and participates in committees ad requested.

  • Adhere to North Carolina controlled substances rules/regulations.

  • Actively participates as a member by supporting decisions, accepting change, managing conflict effectively and valuing the contributions of others.

  • Fosters an environment of mutual respect with special concern for confidentiality and the privacy of others.

  • Maintains strict confidentiality.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of professional practices, and regulations to give and evaluate patient care.

  • Knowledge of how to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.

  • Knowledge of computer systems and applications/EMR.

  • Knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and protocols.

  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and universal precautions to establish a safe work environment.

  • Skill in evaluating and revising care  plan based on patient changes.

  • Skill in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

  • Ability to interpret, adapt, and  apply guidelines and procedures.

  • Ability to respond with flexibility to changing work load or patient assignments.

  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and accurately and work well with others.
